Integral hydrogen plan Northern Netherlands presented to Minister of Economic Affairs and Climate | http://www.windenergie-magazine.nl: In the next 12 years, industry and governments in the Northern Netherlands want to invest 2.8 billion euro in zero emission hydrogen. Today, they handed their joint investment agenda, Integral hydrogen plan Northern Netherlands / Integraal waterstofplan Noord-Nederland) to the Minister of Economic Affairs and Climate.

The plan is drafted by 19 parties: Avebe, BioMCN, EMMTEC services, Eneco, Engie, Equinor, ESD-SIC, Groningen Seaports, Lagerwey, NAM, Gasunie, Nedmag, Nouryon, Nuon/Vattenfall, Province of Groningen, Shell, Suikerunie, Teijin Aramid and water company Groningen. Together, they hold a portfolio of 30 projects to upscale the production, use and transportation of hydrogen. The projects range from the development of a 200 MW elektrolyser to wind turbines that will directly produce hydrogen.

Hydrogen can be used to increase the sustainability of the industry, to function as cleaner alternative for raw materials and as energy carrier (for mobility, built surroundings and as battery to balance the supply from wind and sun).

There are some conditions to develop large-scale emission-free hydrogen. It needs large investments, innovation, guaranteed demand, long-term guarantee
