Hydrogen project fuels Latrobe Valley job hopes as coal plants close

Two days after it was announced the Yallourn power plant would close down in 2028, four years earlier than planned, a Japanese-Australian consortium has begun converting brown coal into liquid hydrogen as part of a $500 million pilot project at AGL’s nearby Loy Yang A power plant.
